History of the Celebration
In 1993, the US Army Corps of Engineers, in an effort to recognize Scouting's contribution to the Barren River District, decided to sponsor a celebration for all scouts in the area. The Corps endeavored to host a jamboree-style activity with competitions and fellowship. Encouraged by its initial success, the Corps has continued to sponsor this celebration of scouting which has grown to be one of the premier events in the Lincoln Heritage / Kentuckiana Councils with more than 700 participants.

A Unique Program
The Barren River Lake Scout Celebration is an event like no other. With the exception of food and travel expenses, there are no charges for the weekend activity. The event patch and all awards are provided by private sponsors.

Camp wide Activities
Camp wide Activities are geared for the older Scouts to “test their scout skills” as a unit.  This also gives younger Scouts a change to learn new skills and try their hand at new activities.

Older Scout challenge
Older Scout Challenge is designed for older Scouts, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts Cadettes and up, AHG Pioneers and up and Trail Life Navigators and up.  Come test your knowledge of your “scout skills” and have a little fun.

Exhibitions - The highlight of the weekend
Scouts will be asked during the weekend to create exhibits that demonstrate scout-related interests.  Please note:  Due to the decline in participation of the exhibitions, they will not be offered as a competition for the 2016 Scout Celebration.

Junior Olympics
For children, ages 10 and under. There will be four (4) categories: Daisey/Brownie, Tiger/Wolf, Junior GS and Bear/Webelos. Award of 1st, 2nd and 3rd will be presented to each category.

Friday and Saturday Night Campfire Programs
Various activities are planned for the Friday and Saturday night campfire programs. The Saturday night campfire may have entertainment provided by the Scouts or a live band, or something by the leaders.  The program will conclude with naming the Scout troop with the most Scout Spirit and the winning of the 'Jigger' award!
